An Educational Journey

Working out with Steve Moyer over the course of a year has been an impressive and educational journey. He has helped me stay in shape and adjust my nutritional needs to be more effective toward my workouts.

Steve's program has challenged muscle groups and coordination that keep my mind engaged in the activity. He has also been sensitive to any injuries that I have had to nurse, and adjusted the program accordingly to still meet the needs of a workout without prolonging or creating new injury.

Recently, I challenged myself to lose 15 pounds in a month for a film role. Steve put together a comprehensive and custom diet plan to help me achieve my goal in a healthy manner without starving myself. After 4 weeks, I was only two pounds shy of my goal, but I was satisfied with the quick results, and excited by my new found diet discipline.

While being on the customized diet program, it made me realize how important nutrition is to weight loss. It shattered my ideas and misconceptions about what is necessary for weight loss, and gave me a new perception and revived outlook on the lifestyle of diet. When working to achieve specific body goals, Steve's encouragement and positive attitude have helped inspire me and keep my goals in realistic view, and for that, I am truly grateful!

When I decided to get back on stage after four years in the summer of 2011, I knew I needed someone to help me with my meal planning. I knew that Steve had a passion for nutrition so I approached him. After learning more about his philosophy, I knew he was the right person to hire.

As a fellow trainer myself with an extensive knowledge of nutrition and a degree in kinesiology, I know which techniques work and which don't. Steve's techniques work! We didn't do anything crazy - no dehydration, no artificial sweeteners, no insane amounts of protein - everything we did was smart and helped me get exactly where I needed to be with my body. He made everything so simple to follow and the meals were all NATURAL meals. As I would say "anything that comes from plants, I'll eat," he made all my meals from natural food sources. The best thing of all was that if I had a question or concern, he listened and made the necessary adjustments. He always checked on me to see how I was doing and feeling. He's AMAZING!

When I first met Steve, I had gained about 20 lbs over the course of a couple years, and was extremely unhappy with how I looked. I constantly battled to lose the weight and would yo yo diet with no success. For my 5'2" height, 20 lbs was pretty noticeable.

Then I started working out with Steve. I came to Steve because I was getting married and was determined to lose weight for my wedding. I bought a dress and it ended up being about 2 sizes too small. I needed to lose 15 lbs just to fit into it.

I was working out with Steve and could feel the difference in my energy and endurance.


I still needed to lose the pounds to fit into my dress, so Steve started me on his meal plan. He sent recipes and a regimented diet for me daily. He taught me about portion control and showed me the proper way to eat. My goal was to lose 15 lbs for my wedding but I ended up losing 20 lbs and had to take in my wedding dress. It wouldn't even zip up when I first met Steve and a month before my wedding, the dress was too big!

Steve was amazing and so helpful. He really cares about his clients and goes above and beyond to help them get fit and live right. Thanks Steve for making me look and feel great for my big day!

I've had the privilege of working with Steve for over 2 years. He is an inspiration, coach and friend. He's a fantastic partner - I'm in the best shape I've been in years. I'm fortunate to be able to train with him one-on-one a couple times per week as well as attend his group boot camp - Moyer Madness - weekly. I started working out in high school - that's over 35 years of hitting the gym. Over the years I've developed a decent level of knowledge and discipline. Still, I'm a huge fan of personal training.

For me, the improvement in productivity and efficiency that comes from guided training far exceeds anything I can achieve on my own. I get 3 or 4 times more out of each session than I would otherwise get from working out alone.

I'm a very busy professional. Sticking to a focused, highly effective program has really worked for me. I'm stronger, leaner, and more muscular than ever. And, more importantly, I'm well aware that my cardio-vascular endurance and core strength are in excellent condition.

During the time we've worked together, I've asked Steve to help me train for 4 rather extreme competitive events that all involved running - which I freely admit is not my strongest suit. In each case Steve worked a running program into our workouts. He gives me the push I need - I was able to shave 5 minutes off the prior year's time on my latest race!

In addition to everything else, Steve has really helped me improve my nutrition intelligence. I'm not the biggest fan of cooking. He's worked with me to develop meal plans that fit my goals, lifestyle and kitchen prowess. I'm turning 55 in less than 1 month. I couldn't be happier. Steve has been a key contributor to that.

EMAIL FROM JULY 12TH: ...Also I dropped from a 33-34 waist on my pants to a 32. Only bad thing ... my pants don't fit and now have to get them brought in. ;)

EMAIL FROM SEPT. 5TH: I wanted to follow up with you from the text you sent me the other day but I was on vaca at the beach and felt a text wouldn't do it justice. So here goes a probably overly long email updating you. Michelle and I have been completely thrilled and happy with the results. We continue to find foods that we like and can prepare in the beginning of the week that fit your caloric intake with the right amount of protein and carbs that you got us on. Michelle has now lost 18 lbs and weighs 128 lbs just 3 lbs off her pre pregnancy weight. As for me I had a 6 month follow up doctors appointment the other week and I weighed 157 lbs (6 months ago I weighed 168 lbs) so I am extremely excited as well. I've been swamped with work and kids so I really don't work out at all and this has been perfect! I feel good and look the way I like, only 2 lbs off my senior high school football weight! So thank you again for the wonderful meal plan!

EMAIL FROM SEPT. 21ST, FROM MICHELLE: Thanks so much Steve. I LOVED the workout!!!!! I did it yesterday morning. I did the intervals on the rolling steps for 15 minutes like you suggested after the mini circuits. It was the first time I have left the gym feeling as if my body could not take another minute of exercise……a great way to start the day!!!!!! Thanks again for all of your help.

FINALLY, FROM OCTOBER 6TH: Steve, The intervals and added full body movement to the circuit training made a big difference. It has been 3 weeks since I changed my workout as you suggested. In that timeframe I managed to lose 2 more lbs which I was not expecting, as well as finally start to see the flab around my stomach go away. Just a little left to go. I am finally getting the body back that I had over 4 years ago before I got pregnant for the first time and had just finished running a marathon.
